Fungal toenail infections (technically known as Onychomycosis) occur when a fungal infection establishes beneath the nail plate. A fungal infection can be extremely difficult to treat with over-the-counter medication as the medication cannot penetrate to the nail bed to fight the infection.

What happens during a consultation?
Traumatised nails and fungal nail infections can look very similar, so it is important to take the time and expert care to diagnose properly. We have the ability to do an on-the-spot analysis of a specimen to detect fungus in under five minutes. This enables us to treat you effectively and efficiently.
Clearanail
Merivale Podiatry is one of a limited number of clinics in the country who offer Clearanail—an innovative way to treat Fungal Nail Infections. It’s based on Controlled Micro Penetration (CMP), a process which drills tiny holes in the nail plate. These tiny holes in your nail allow topical fungal treatments to reach your nailbed in much higher concentration levels than otherwise possible. Results are typically visible in 2-8 weeks and most patients only require one session. So don’t wait around!
